Volunteer Extraordinare !!!
Liz commented on her motivation for doing this event for us. "The night before the first day of the card sale, I had butterflies in my stomach. I was so scared that no one was going to like anything I made and that my entire idea would be a failure. However, in the morning when I was setting up, something came over me and I said to myself, "you're at least trying, and that is better than doing nothing at all." Though it was frigid, windy, and I heard a lot of "Not today" and "No thank you".... it was those people who did want to contribute that made it all worth it. It may have been uncomfortable to stand out there for a few days, but it was nothing compared to the discomfort of living in constant fear of abuse at home. That thought kept me going."
We want to show our gratitude to Liz for taking the time to make these beautifully crafted cards and sit outside in the freezing cold to sell them for three days straight! The Helpmate staff is amazed by her compassion and dedication to helping victims of domestic violence. She is truly helping us to succeed in our mission of working with our community to eliminate abuse and fear.
