Tax Free Charitable Contributions

On December 17, President Barack Obama signed into law legislation reauthorizing tax-free charitable contributions via Individual Retirement Accounts for eligible individuals. Until December 31, 2011, people age 70 ½ and older may transfer up to $100,000 directly from a traditional or Roth IRA to Helpmate, Inc. tax-free. Congress has also included a special provision allowing these charitable contributions from an IRA made through January 31, 2011 to be counted within the 2010 tax year. |
