Hope Notes
Helpmate’s mission states that it is “a domestic violence agency working with the community to eliminate abuse and fear.” One of our volunteers, Liz Miller, has created a project that highlights a new way to promote “working with the community.” The project is called Hope Notes, and it draws support and encouragement for Helpmate’s clients via empowering messages written on the inside of note cards. Liz has been presenting to local groups and individuals in the community, supplying cardstock, educating about domestic violence, and inviting people to write messages on cards that will ultimately find their way to clients staying at Helpmate’s shelter and attending support groups. Liz has received several donations of cards (and would love more) from local businesses and is also using blank cards which she will later design after a message has been written.
If you would like to participate as an individual or invite Liz to present to a group in which you’re involved, please contact her at izabemiller@gmail.com. She will supply the cardstock if necessary and give you all the information and guidance on writing a truly meaningful message. This project will be going on until August 1, 2010.
