VOLUNTEERS PROVIDE MUCH-NEEDED BUILDING AND GROUNDS HELP
On Saturday, April 30, a group of eight volunteers assisted with various building and grounds projects at our emergency shelter. Some of these volunteers are employed by TRANE Air Solutions and one volunteer is employed by Mikes Heating and Cooling. This volunteer group was led by Leah McCurley, a Helpmate volunteer.
These volunteers assisted with lawn maintenance, minor repairs, and some internal paint touch up. The biggest project involved pressure washing and repainting our main handicap-accessible entrance ramp and our backyard deck. Hugh Alexander, a TRANE employee and Helpmate volunteer, did the initial pressure washing a week prior to this work day. Then he assisted several volunteers on Saturday who worked tirelessly to repaint the ramps and deck that had become very weather-worn and unattractive. They accomplished a great deal in a 4 ½ hour period!
We would like to thank all of those listed below for donating their time and energy on a beautiful Saturday to assist us in keeping our emergency shelter safe and beautiful for those who reside and work here.
